How to define education ? There is hardly any common agreement between people from different spheres of life working in different fields as to the main purpose of an education. Nor is there any common consensus as to what comprises of education. As of now, we live in a world where the purpose of an education is to train citizens of the world to be efficient. However, such an angle is not comprehensive since the concept of a good citizen depends from the country and the culture to which he/she belongs.

There have been attempts by some eminent members of our world to structure the development of the next generations in accordance with their ideals of life. However, such a definition is deemed to be unsatisfactory by most as it seems to be a definition of training young minds so that they can earn money, become rich in terms of money and have a social standing. We have to take into account that the future generations will be living in a different world, have access to different technologies and have different thoughts and expressions.
However hard we try to comprehend a comprehensive definition of education, it will be influenced by our own perceptions of life. The need of the hour is to underline our own values, principles, and purpose in life. Only then will we be able to realize some of these ideals provided we have a fair share of luck in our lifetime. Broadly, education is the process of accumulating knowledge throughout a lifetime and then employing that knowledge to make important decisions in life, develop values and principles, and lead a good life.
For a child to attain his maximum potential in terms of intellectual efficiency, practicing good mental habit seems to be the best path forward. And if such a potential is attained in the course of time, the child will be much happier. A brief look into the Greek idea of happiness will tell you that the ideas converge. A teacher who has this belief will face a problem in time. Each child in a classroom cannot attain his maximum potential in a similar path. Hence, teachers have to a follow a middle path, whereby, most of the pupils in the classroom can attain a certain level of their potential and the rest is left to fate. Students who have that zeal make the grade of attaining their maximum potential in terms of intellectual efficiency.
